Ramadan Applications for Nokia Mobile Phones

Nokia has made available, via its website, a wide range of Ramadan related content for a number of phones (including all recent S60 devices). There are a number of applications: Quran (multi-lingual interface, search and bookmark, Emsakya (prayer alerts), Hajj and Umrah (journey guide) and more; as well as ringtones, wallpapers, anasheed (Islamic vocal music) and landmarks (for Nokia Maps).

The available applications include:

* Quran - digital version of the Holy Koran which allows you to search for a verse or sura. You can also listen to the Kuran (narrated by Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi).

* Emsakya - get alerts (alarms) for the five daily prayers and hear daily reminders for Iftar and Suhouor. The application can also get, via an online connection, updated dates for Ramadan and Eid.

* Ramadaniat - allows you to set reminder for important Ramadan events and search Zakah Al-Fitr, Laylat Al-Qadr and I'tekaf information. There is information on the definition of fasting, when it becomes obligatory, and the benefits of fasting.

* Hajj and Umrah - allows to view multimedia content about the Hajj and Umrah journeys. For example there are Flash Lite based animations with narration describing the Umrah journey and each type of Hajj: Ifrad, Tamattu' and Qaran.

* Cards - allows you to create and send mobile greeting cards. Extra content can be updated over the air.

* Mozzaker - allows you to read and listen to daily Azkars.

All the applications are multi-lingual and are available in Arabic, English, Urdu and French. Most of the applications allow you to share content with your friends and family by sending it via an MMS message.

All the content is freely available from the Nokia website. Nokia will also be preloading this content on a number of devices throughout August.
